Photography has been a serious pursuit since I was young, backed by an MA from the University of Central Lancashire. This journal showcases work shot on my Hasselblad X1D-50C with the XCD 3.5/45 lens: landscapes, environments, and street photography.

I came to the X1D through a long road with Canon and Sony. Shot extensively on the 5DS R and 5D Mark IV, then moved to the Sony A7R III and IV for the resolution. But medium format changed something. The X1D forces you to slow down. Think about your composition. Take your time. It's not a camera you fire off blindly, and that's exactly why I chose it. The 50MP sensor doesn't just give more detail, it gives more depth. The way highlights roll off, the gradation in shadows, the quietness of the image. It's the camera I reach for when I want the file to match what I saw.
